The purpose of this site is to document our family's journey of transforming a tract house built in 1950 into an up-to-date greener abode.  In doing so, we hope to share what we learn in the interests of helping other families who may be going through or considering going through a similar process.  Making environmentally sound decisions regarding construction and remodeling turns out to be a complicated endeavor, requiring a great deal of research, a discomforting amount of compromise and a good measure of skepticism regarding manufacturers' claims.  So, we hope the information on this site can help to overcome the hurdles and serve to inspire you in pursuing your own greener abode.
